THE TROIS-RIVIÈRES POLAR RALLYCROSS IS POSTPONED, BUT GP3R SECURES A PROVISIONAL RALLYX CALENDAR DATE FOR AUGUST 2026

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, Thursday November 20th | Strategic pullbacks by two major international rallycross series have forced the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) to postpone the upcoming edition of the Trois-Rivières Polar Rallycross (RXP3R) to an undetermined later date. However, GP3R is pleased to announce that the RallyX Championship — powered exclusively by renewable energy, including electricity, and featuring world-renowned drivers such as American Tanner Foust, Sweden’s Oliver Eriksson, Jamaica’s Fraser McConnell and multi-time champion Robin Larsson — has granted Trois-Rivières a provisional date on its North American calendar: August 22–23, 2026.

“Last September, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile announced that the World Championship — with whom we had an agreement for hosting the Polar Rallycross — would be replaced by a European championship for at least the next two seasons,” explains Dominic Fugère, General Manager of GP3R. “RallyX promoter Andreas Eriksson studied the possibility of racing on ice in February, but the timeline proved too tight. Instead, he offered us a provisional place on the new American leg of the RallyX Championship. After carefully reviewing all options together, the dates of August 22 and 23, 2026 emerged as those with the greatest potential for success.”

According to Andreas Eriksson, a stop in Trois-Rivières is absolutely essential for any rallycross series seeking meaningful expansion in North America.

“Trois-Rivières is a bucket list track for every rallycross driver. They want to be able to say they’ve raced there,” said Andreas Eriksson during a meeting with participating teams and the promoters of the RallyX championship rounds. “The circuit is known as one of the fastest, most spectacular, and most enjoyable to drive in the world. And on top of that, the GP3R team leaves nothing to chance and delivers a world-class event every time they organize one.”

The Trois-Rivières round would join a RallyX calendar featuring additional stops in Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Germany and the United States, before concluding with a grand finale in Portugal.

The spectacular electric FC1-X cars, producing over 1,000 horsepower and having already raced on Trois-Rivières ice during the 2023 Polar Rallycross, will headline the potential North American event. They will be joined by the FC2 class, developing nearly 600 horsepower thanks to fully renewable, non-petroleum synthetic fuel. RallyX will also make a number of these cars available for rental at scheduled events.

At this stage, the August 22–23, 2026 Trois-Rivières round remains provisional, pending completion of the financial structure and full event programming. Official confirmation and ticket sales are expected in the winter of 2026.

“If the 2026 summer RallyX event is a success, Andreas has confirmed they would be willing to return in the winter — on ice — in
January 2027,” adds Fugère. “But for now, our focus is on delivering the GP3R featuring the NASCAR Canada Series on August 7–9, and finalizing plans for RallyX’s arrival on August 22–23.”

Customers holding reservations for the 2026 Trois-Rivières Polar Rallycross will receive automatic refunds this week.
