THE RETURN OF THE MAYOR’S CUP, A FESTIVE TAILGATE AND A CULINARY CONTEST TO KICK OFF GP3R 2025
TROIS-RIVIÈRES | MONDAY, MAY 26, 2025 – The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières promises a roaring start to its 55th edition, taking place on August 8, 9 and 10. The organization has unveiled several additions that will electrify the weekend and allow its visitors to experience events here that they would normally seek south of the border.
An iconic race that marked the history of the GP3R, the Mayor’s Cup will make a long-awaited return with an innovative format featuring high-performance vehicles from the GT3, GT4 and TCR classes. Among the expected cars: Ferrari Challenge 296, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo, Audi R8 GT, McLaren Artura, Porsche GT3 Cup, Honda Civic TCR and Volkswagen Polo TCR.
The Cup will offer three 40-minute races spread over the three event days, preceded by a qualifying session.
A spectacular rendezvous sure to thrill fans of pure performance. At stake for the drivers, the chance to join legends such as Mo Carter, Roger Brière, Jacques Bienvenue and former F1 driver George Follmer.
Tailgate Party starting at noon on August 8
On Friday, August 8, already marked by free access to races as part of our traditional Open House Day, a festive tailgate party will be added starting at noon, directly in the parking lot integrated into the Hippodrome 3R circuit. Hosted by the indispensable Martin Massé (from the Entre 2 Tailgates podcast) and Bob Genest, Quebec ambassador of NFL tailgates in Buffalo, this event will bring together fans of sports, music, and BBQ.
The day’s theme is Take the afternoon off and come tailgate with us. The most festive crew, according to our judges experienced with NFL tailgates, will be offered four spots in our paddock suites to enjoy the F1600 races, the Mayor’s Cup, and Friday night’s Super Production Challenge.
Headlining, the group Tailgate Radio led by country singer PL Belval, who will deliver a musical appetizer from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., right before the big Friday night race. The main show will follow the night race around 9:00 p.m.
A culinary contest presented by GP3R
In a gourmet and playful spirit, the GP3R invites its food vendors to create an exclusive signature dish for the event. The dishes will be evaluated by food journalist Allison Van Rassel, in addition to being submitted to a vote by the public and the drivers. The grand winner will earn their concession space for free for the 2026 edition.
We want our vendors and visitors to experience the growing trend in sports venues of having signature dishes that enhance the experience and create memories. GP3R must be a celebration for the eyes, the ears… and the taste buds!
These additions enrich an already packed schedule, featuring NASCAR Canada, the Nissan Sentra Cup, Super Production Challenge, F1600 Canada, Modified Legends, and Vintage Racing Quebec. The GP3R continues to offer a unique experience in the heart of the city, at the crossroads of performance, innovation, and friendliness.
Tickets for the GP3R weekend on August 8, 9 and 10, 2025, are already on sale at https://billets.gp3r.com/ and at 1-866-866-4787.
