Trois-Rivières, Monday, July 21, 2025 – Motorsports fans got a thrilling preview of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières powered by Chevrolet (GP3R) today, as a Radical SR3 XXR from the Emzone Radical Canada Cup (CRCE), presented by Michelin, hit the track on avenue Gilles Villeneuve during a demonstration run led by Alex Tagliani.
A three-time GP3R winner in NASCAR Canada and two-time champion in Formula Atlantic at Trois-Rivières, Tagliani is adding another string to his bow by joining the CRCE starting in 2025:
“Radical prototypes? Real pocket rockets! Super light, incredibly agile, and powerful — perfect for taming a tight, relentless track like the GP3R powered by Chevrolet. After F1600, Formula Atlantic, sports cars and NASCAR Canada, I’m ready for a new challenge. Heading to Trois-Rivières to add another machine to my racing résumé...”
— Alex Tagliani
Albert Langlois-Deshaies, Radical ambassador for Quebec, welcomed the demonstration:
“We’re thrilled at the idea of seeing our cars on such a legendary circuit as the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières powered by Chevrolet. Their power-to-weight ratio and handling will offer a breathtaking show for the fans.”
Bruno Spengler in a Sentra: A DTM Champion Joins the GP3R Grid
For the first time, the 2025 GP3R will welcome Canadian driver Bruno Spengler, 2012 DTM champion, who will compete in the Nissan Sentra Cup. A true legend of Canadian motorsport, Spengler will be driving car #007 for JD Promotion & Compétition, a team led by Jacques Deshaies.
Spengler’s career highlights include:
-
16 wins, 51 podiums, and 18 poles in DTM
-
A record number of wins on the Nuremberg street circuit
-
Podiums at the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and 6 Hours of Road Atlanta
-
The Italian GT3 Championship title in 2023
-
And currently, the role of official driver and ambassador for Bugatti
This will be a double first for Spengler: his first time at GP3R and his first experience racing a front-wheel-drive car.
“I’m super excited to be racing in Quebec again after all these years. It’s a huge honor, especially to compete at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, which has such a rich history. A huge thanks to JD Promotion & Compétition for the opportunity. I can’t wait to be there and see some familiar faces I haven’t seen in a long time.”
— Bruno Spengler
With a third race added to the schedule, the Nissan Sentra Cup helps the GP3R reach a record-breaking 20 races — the most ever offered to fans in the event’s 55-year history.
Media Day and Official Testing at ICAR on August 6
Ahead of the event, the GP3R powered by Chevrolet will host a media day and private testing session at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Highlights include:
-
The unveiling of the official Chevrolet pace cars for the Grand Prix
-
Appearances by top NASCAR Canada drivers, including past GP3R winners Marc-Antoine Camirand, Andrew Ranger, L.P. Dumoulin, Alex Tagliani, Kevin Lacroix, and Alex Guénette, as well as Mathieu Kingsbury, J.F. Dumoulin, and 2023 EuroNASCAR champion Vittorio Ghirelli, who will drive a Rousseau Métal-liveried car
“The idea of a pre-GP3R test day powered by Chevrolet is excellent. It gives everyone a chance to make sure their machines are in perfect shape before Canada’s biggest NASCAR race.”
— Jean-François Dumoulin
Friday’s “Tallarivières Tailgate” Replaces Saturday Night Fireworks
The GP3R team also confirmed that no downtown activities will be organized on Saturday night this year. Instead, the only official evening event will be the traditional kickoff night on Thursday, August 7, featuring a race car display, NASCAR Canada haulers, and a driver autograph session at the Harbourfront Park.
“We’re confident that downtown Trois-Rivières’ businesses and attractions are great hosts, so we’d rather leave the Saturday evening spotlight to them,” said Dominic Fugère, General Manager of the GP3R powered by Chevrolet. “On Friday, from noon to 10:30 p.m., our Tallarivières Tailgate — just like our open house — will be free for visitors and will add music, food, and dancing to the weekend’s adrenaline rush!”
